Assured Performance Launches Shop Certification Program, New I-CAR Program

The Assured Performance Network announced the official launch of a national body shop Certification program with the goal of certifying at least 2,500 facilities across the country.

A key part of the program, according to Assured Performance, is that the organization will extend its certification and third-party administration to other networks wanting to establish certification programs of their own. Assured Performance is hoping that the recognition of a single process of certification for multiple organizations will eliminate redundant costs for shops, making certification more attractive and affordable. Another benefit to this approach is that shops certified through a single process would be recognized and promoted by multiple entities, enhancing the shop’s credibility for little to no additional cost.

Assured Performance says the initiative is being driven by their Network Members and others seeking to establish a distinction for shops that have the right tools, equipment, training and facilities to ensure the proper and safe repair of today’s automobiles.

The program has established certification standards that are a culmination of multiple requirements from OEM’s and other organizations, such as I-CAR. Among other requirements, shops certified through this program will need to achieve the I-CAR Gold Class Professionals designation.

As part of this effort, I-CAR announced separately that it is collaborating with the Assured Performance Network in the development of a new program, Road to Gold, a dedicated, planned approach to achieving the I-CAR Gold Class Professionals designation for shops in the Assured Performance Network.

Organizations that enroll in the Road to Gold program commit to earning the I-CAR Gold Class Professionals business designation, while the program provides each shop with a tailor-made plan to achieve that goal. The Gold Class designation is the highest training recognition available through I-CAR reports that Gold Class businesses have reported less rework, retained customer satisfaction, and improved overall operational efficiencies.

“For our Assured Performance Certification, the I-CAR Gold Class Professionals designation is essential to ensuring the shop has the training that is in accordance with industry repair standards.” Scott Biggs, CEO of Assured Performance, explained. “With this new Road to Gold program, our members can enroll with a clear objective: Gold Class status, and get a plan to achieve and maintain it.”

“I-CAR commends Assured Performance Network for its commitment to training. The inherit value delivered through the I-CAR Professional Development Program and the Gold Class designation will provide Assured Performance Network member shops with the training needed to perform safe repairs and retain vehicle integrity post-repair,” said Jeff Peevy, I-CAR Senior Director of Field Operations and Segment Development.

Other elements of the Assured Performance Certification program will include:

  • use of a third-party CSI provider
  • advanced equipment requirements such as a 220-volt 3-phase Squeeze-type Resistance Spot Welder
  • use of OEM repair procedures with electronic documentation as proof criteria required by federal, state and local laws
  • a written lifetime warranty, supported by the national network
  • “Certificate of Authenticity” provided to consumers

In addition, shops in the program would also be eligible to receive rebates as part of the network’s existing Co-Op program, which, according to the Assured Performance, more than offsets the cost of the certification and business development process.

Biggs concluded, “We have created a cost effective approach to certification, and now qualified repairers can finally be recognized for their commitment and investment.”

“Consumers want to be able to pick a certified shop that will repair their vehicle right the first time,” said Liz Stein, Executive Director of Assured Performance. “We are proud to bring this timely solution to the industry.”
